Formed in 2009, the Bristol Pitbulls are the city’s only senior ice hockey team.
After the closure of Bristol’s only permanent ice rink in 2012, the team currently play all their home games at Oxford Ice Rink. However, with the expected opening of a new rink at Cribbs Causeway in 2018, Pitbulls look forward to returning to their city to re-introduce everyone to this exciting and dynamic sport.
In a season running from September to April, the Pitbulls compete in the Wilkinson Conference of the National Ice Hockey League (NIHL), the third tier of British ice hockey. The competition involves a league of 14 teams across the southern half of the country, from Cardiff in the west to Peterborough and Gillingham in the east, with each teams playing each other once at home and once away.
