Adam Coakley has agreed to join the Bristol Pitbulls from the Swindon NIHL2 Wildcats for the upcoming 2018-19 season.
Coakley has spent his entire hockey career in the Swindon set-up, stepping up to the senior leagues in 2011. Initially a defenceman, Coakley spent the past couple of seasons in a much more offensive role with the ‘Cats.
As a result of that role change, he became the team’s second top goal scorer in the 2016-17 season. He then climbed to the top step in that classification last season, scoring 13 goals in 23 games.
In addition to his on-ice performances, Coakley took on a leadership role within the young Swindon development team. Becoming Alternate Captain in 2014, he has held that role within the team for the past four years.
On joining Bristol, Coakley said: “After playing in Swindon since I had started hockey, it seemed like the right time for a change due to certain circumstances.
“Knowing quite a lot of the guys in the team, through either playing against or with them through juniors/seniors, makes the move easier. Especially when you get the chance to be part of a team that competes every year.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve this year. But I can’t see any reason why, with the team we have, we shouldn’t be expecting to be pushing for the playoffs.”
